General Dentistry

Dr. Musgrave is a general dentist who manages oral health care for the entire family.

Preventive Care

The cornerstone of good general dental care is preventive treatment and patient education. Dr. Musgrave and his staff provide regular oral exams and professional teeth cleaning. Patients are educated on the best home oral hygiene regimen for their specific needs. The goal is to partner with you to keep your mouth, teeth, and gums as healthy as possible.

Restorative Treatment

Dr. Musgrave provides restorative treatment such as fillings, treatment plans for broken or lost teeth, dental pain, and periodontal disease. He also does root canals, crown and bridge work, dentures, and dental implants.

Coordination of Treatment for Complex Dental Care

If dental specialists are needed to complete your treatment plan, Dr. Musgrave will refer you to local practitioners ( Oral surgeon, Periodontist, Endodontist, Orthodontist). They will collaborate with him to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Nothing gives Dr. Musgrave greater satisfaction than helping a patient with a smile makeover. Options include teeth whitening, veneers, gum recontouring, and Invisalign treatment.

Oral Surgery

Dr. Musgrave performs root canals, tooth extractions, and limited periodontic and endodontic treatment. He refers complex cases to a local specialist.

Implants

In some cases, an implant is a better option for replacing missing teeth than dentures or bridgework. An implant is a metal post placed into the jaw and topped with an artificial tooth. Implants can be made to look, feel and function just like natural teeth. They also prevent surrounding teeth from shifting out of their normal position. Implants may be used to replace a partial denture or stabilize a complete denture. Implants are easier to maintain than a denture.

Invisalign

Invisalign is an alternative to traditional “wire and bracket” orthodontic treatment. The patient receives custom-fitted clear aligners that fit snugly around the teeth. This process is more comfortable than braces and aligners can be easily removed as needed for eating or playing sports. The aligners gradually shift the position of your teeth into their proper position. Dr. Musgrave is an Invisalign-trained dentist who can evaluate your smile for this treatment.

Periodontics

Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is inflammation and infection of the soft tissue around teeth. Common causes include poor oral hygiene, plaque, smoking, diabetes, and certain medications.

The initial phase is called gingivitis. At this point, the gums are swollen, red, and may bleed. If periodontal disease is left untreated it will spread to the bone supporting the teeth. This phase is called periodontitis. The gums pull away from the teeth, creating pockets where bacteria collect and release toxins that damage gums, teeth, and bone. Without aggressive treatment, the teeth may loosen and fall out.

Dr. Musgrave and the dental hygienist play a key role in stabilizing periodontal disease before your overall health is affected by an uncontrolled infection. Patients with periodontal disease need individualized treatment planning which includes more frequent professional cleanings by the hygienist and ongoing instruction on a daily home oral hygiene regimen. Some patients need antibiotics or a deep-cleaning procedure called scaling and root planing to remove bacteria growing in deep pockets. Persistent severe cases may require gum surgery and possible bone grafting.

Emergency Dentistry

A dental emergency is any dental condition making it difficult to function or causes pain. Examples include tooth pain, dental infection, lost dental crowns, lost fillings, broken or chipped teeth, dental trauma from a fall, motor vehicle accident or blow to the face.

Dr. Musgrave has over 30 years of general dentistry experience. He has always made himself available to his own patients for after-hours dental emergencies.  After identifying the need for additional  emergency care options, Dr. Musgrave opted to extend his emergency treatment to the entire Tucson community.

General Dentistry

A general dentist is your primary care dental provider. General needs include diagnosis, treatments, and management of our overall oral care needs. General dentistry can include gum care, root canals, fillings, crowns, and much more.

General dentistry is critical when it comes to the overall care of your teeth. It is recommended that you visit the dentist every six months to help prevent cavities and other problems. When necessary, we have the ability to take x-rays to help see diseases of the teeth and other issues that may not be seen with a usual oral exam.

Cosmetic Dentistry

If you are looking to improve the appearance of your teeth, gums, and overall smile, you are looking for a cosmetic dentist. Dr. Musgrave has been doing cosmetic procedures for over 30 years and takes pride in his cosmetic work.

If you’d like to improve tooth color, shape, size, alignment, or position you should contact us today to schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Musgrave.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are often the preferred method of restoring an extracted tooth. Often bridges will require alterations to healthy teeth to accommodate the new bridge. With implants no such alteration is needed and the end product is much more natural and maintenance free.

It is important to smile with confidence and enjoy your favorite foods. Dental implants can be a stable way to replace missing teeth. Dental implants can look and feel like your natural teeth.

Oral Surgery

Dr. Malcolm E. Musgrave offers a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery services. Some of these services include oral pathology, tooth extractions (including wisdom teeth), impacted canines, bone grafting, and other corrective surgeries.

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are specialists in removal of diseased, impacted, damaged, and non-restorable teeth. We can provide safe and effective anesthesia services in-office.

Invisalign Treatment

Invisalign is a low profile solution for straightening teeth which does not include the use of  brackets or wires. Without the use of brackets and wires Invisalign fits in like a retainer straightening the teeth without any noticeable hardware.

Depending on the complexity of your case, you could complete your treatment in as little as 6 months, but you’ll start seeing results in a matter of weeks.
